Making Money From Surveys Online | LIFESTYLE


This week I received $120 worth of Hoyts Gift Cards in the mail from doing surveys. And I had A LOT of people asking me questions about it, so I decided I would answer them all in a blog post!

FIRST OF ALL, doing surveys online is not a 'get rich quick' kinda thing so if that's what you're hoping for you might as well stop reading now. Just being honest. It takes patience, time, planning and consistency to actually make it work for you. 

WHY DID YOU START DOING SURVEYS?
So in February 2016, I fell over while skiing in Japan and ruptured my ACL. Yeah, fuck my life I know. I had to have my knee reconstructed and this meant I was out of work for a really long time because I literally couldn't even walk. This was also before I was 22 so I was not receiving Centrelink yet either, so I was really fucked money wise. This is why I started doing surveys, because I had so much free time and you know, needed money so I could like eat and stuff. I mainly cashed my credit out as Woolworth gift cards so I could get basic groceries and survive. You do what you gotta do.

WHAT SITES DO YOU USE?
I use the following three survey sites-
  • Valued Opinions (not currently accepting new members) - this is my favourite survey site as I always get sent the most surveys on it!

OK COOL, HOW DOES IT WORK?
Basically, you join a survey site and they will start by getting you to answer a heap of questions about yourself and your lifestyle. These questions will help the survey site send you surveys that you're eligible to do. Keep in mind, you will not be eligible to do every survey sent to you, and this can be frustrating but there is nothing you can do about it. 

HOW MUCH MONEY CAN I MAKE?
It really depends on the survey site you're using but usually, you will earn $1-$3 (AUD) per survey you do. On some survey sites, you will be able to cash your earning out as actual money (through PayPal) and on other survey sites, they only allow you to cash your earnings out in gift card form. Which is honestly still great!

HOW LONG DO THE SURVEYS TAKE?
Surveys usually take between 10-40 minutes each to do. 

THAT DOESN'T SOUND LIKE A LOT OF MONEY...?
This is where the 'patience, time, planning and consistency' part comes in. You're right, $1 for 10-40 minutes of your time isn't a lot at all. However, if you do them regularly you'll be amazed about how quickly your credit grows!

SO HOW DO I MAKE IT WORK FOR ME THEN?
  • Do the surveys as soon as they're emailed to you. Every time there is a survey available for you to do, it is emailed to you straight away to alert you. All surveys have a limit of the number of people who can do them, and once its full the survey is shut and no longer available for you to do. If you wanna make the most credit possible, then do the surveys straight away before they fill up!
  • Make time in your lifestyle to do the surveys. I usually sit down and spend an hour or so in either the morning (usually there are more surveys available in the morning) or in the evening doing the surveys. If you're anything like me you waste a fair bit of time online or just scrolling through facebook or insta or whatever- use that time to do surveys instead. 
  • Join a few surveys sites. The more sites you join, the more surveys you can do. Pretty simple stuff.
  • Be consistent. Do surveys more often = make more credit.

Surveys aren't for everyone. But if you're committed, patient and don't mind spending the time doing them then they're fucking fantastic. Now, I'm fortunate enough that I don't have to do surveys to survive. However, I do still do surveys regularly because I do enjoy them and also enjoy the treat yo self benefits that come along with them!
